From: No Time for Flashcards
Mavi is 24 months.
If only we could visit a marine park just like we had in Manila, it would have been easier for me to teach and show Mavi all about sea animals. But since we live in a place covered with mountains and alps, I just relied on books, videos and art crafts to teach him all about these sea creatures.
So for our letter T theme, we made a turtle craft.
1. My materials include: green cardstock paper, paper plate, green tempera paint, scissor, glue and some colored pencils.
2. Paint the paper plate with a green tempera paint. While Mavi was doing this, I draw and cut the turtle’s head and feet on the cardstock. My son enjoyed the painting activity, he kept painting and painting that he ended up doing three paper plates.
3. Allow the paper plate to dry. The next day, I made him glue the rest of the turtle’s body parts. I made him use of my homemade glue but the glue wasn’t that sticky so he was having a hard time sticking the pieces on the paper plate.
4. When he was done gluing, I have to allow the glue to dry first because as I mentioned, it took a long time for the homemade glue to dry. And here’s the final product of our craft. He wasn’t that fascinated with our paper craft unlike what we did during the previous session. It might be because he hasn’t really showing interest on the turtle. Anyway, we will just wrap up our alphabet theme so I can start a new curriculum.
