Here are the things we did for this week.
MONDAY
Theme: TRAFFIC LIGHTS
This week, we did paper craft traffic lights. I gave this activity to Mavi because he always he sees this whenever we’re outdoors, plus, he sees this at the same time in one of Barney’s video.
Because Mavi is already familiar with the colors green, yellow and red, I believe that he will love this activity… and he did!
What he learned from this activity:
- Developed his fine motor skills since I made him rip the colored papers.
- Learn the basic of tracing. I used one of his stacking cups to trace the circles in the traffic lights. He got so interested that he also did the same later on. I guess, he started to learn the idea of “tracing” here.
- Developed fine motor skills through gluing the papers.
- Learn to appreciate the green, yellow and red colors in some other ways.
TUESDAY
Colors/Shapes/Sizes: Sorting sizes and colors
O is for Octopus!
I got this size sorting cards and color sorting cards from Confessions of a homeschooler. Since my son is too young to sort different sizes I just used the smallest and biggest Octopus to introduce him to “big” and “small”.
He’s kinda distracted by the red colored cardboard where I glued the octopus cards.
Here’s the sorting color octopus cards, I cut them into half to form as puzzles.
What he learned from this activity:
- Exposure to big and small sizes.
- Learn how to do puzzles.
- Learn to match different colors.
WEDNESDAY
Letter: Letter O
O is for Owl!
We did this Owl paper craft for activity for letter O. To know more about this activity, click here.
THURSDAY
Numbers: Puzzle numbers
Husband and I got this puzzles from a nearby toy store. The puzzles is from 1 to 20, but I just gave him the numbers 1 to 10 so he can master to do the puzzle.
He can do the puzzle from 1 to 5, but not yet with 6 to 10. I think he just memorized the pictures that matches with the numbers hehe.
FRIDAY
Gross/Fine Motor Skills: Pouring and cutting playdoh
I based my activities on the Montessori Method of learning.
Cutting was supposed our activity for this week, but he wasn’t interested in it after I gave him a scissor and a playdoh. That’s why I shifted to pouring.
Materials:
Materials:
- Plastic safety scissor
- Playdough
Using cereals/red beans I made him practice the art of pouring from one cup to another. I gave him his stacking cups, using a smaller and bigger size. First I showed him what to do, and the rest he just followed. So far, he loved this activity. He kept on pouring, then at times, transferring the cereals/beans using his hands from cup to cup or there were times that he would count them!
Don’t forget to use a tray!
