Paper Craft: The SUN

From:  No Time for Flashcards

This was one activity Mavi enjoyed.  He’s showing interest in our painting activities and he spends a lot of time doing it. He’s able to explore what he can do with the paint, try to feel it on his hand, pretend to create something out of it and he can practice his grip on the paintbrush.

For this exercise, I made him use a sponge to paint.  It’s just so funny because even if I kept on telling him that it is a sponge, he would refer to it a a flower.

This is how we made our SUN paper craft activity.

1.  Materials were yellow paint, yellow construction paper, scissor, paste, colored pens and a paper plate.

2.  I traced Mavi’s hand on the construction paper.  He enjoyed this activity.  After I traced his hand, he said “fingers!” while pointing to his hands and he counted his fingers on the paper.

3.  Made him paint the paper plate.  It took him the whole afternoon to paint.  While he paints, I cut the paper hands. Allow the paint to dry.

4.  The next day, we glued the hands on the paper and put it in our art-wall.  He was so happy with the SUN craft!  We danced and sing afterwhich (good exercise and development of gross motor skills).
