Letter Craft: P is for Piano

Got this activity from No Time for Flashcards, my favorite site at the moment.  They got lots of wonder crafts and activities for your young ones!  Just to clear things out, I am not taking credits for this activity.  Again, I sourced this out from No Time for Flashcards.  The only reason why I document it the way they do is for me to be able to re-do this activity again in the future.

1.  You will need an orange paper, a white cardboard paper, black stickers, glue and scissors.  But feel free to use anything you like or whatever available resources you have.

 

2. Write a huge capital letter P on the orange paper.  I made Mavi do some scribbling on it before I cut out the gigantic letter.

3.  Apply some lines for the keys on the white strip of paper.  Make sure that the paper fits on the trunk of the letter P.  Since Mavi is not yet able to create straight lines, I did all the work.

4.  I made him put glue on the keys.  This activity also helps him to do some “squeezing” activity, another fine motor activity which needs to be develop by kiddos.

5.  I placed the keys along the letter P.  Before hand, I cut out some black keys.  Mavi doesn’t know how to cut papers yet, but hopefully with these activities we’re doing, he will be able to learn the proper way of doing it.  As it is said, scissor skill is hard for toddlers. Anyway, I made him put the black keys on the white keys.  I just directed him where to put it since he knows how to use the stickers already.

Theme Craft: Birthday Cake

Since my son celebrated his birthday last week, I decided to do this activity for our homeschooling.

1.  Prepare materials needed.  In this activity I prepared brown, yellow and pink colored paper, paste, scissor, a white cardboard, an orange sticker and cotton balls.

2.  I cut out the papers to form two huge cakes (supposedly) but they end up looking like giant cupcakes hehe.  I put numbers 1 and 2 on the base of the cake to indicate his age.

3.  I made him apply glue on the papers.  Look at how he does it,  he puts glue on both sides of the paper hehe.

 

4.  I positioned each paper to form a cake since he doesn’t know how to do it yet.  Then I made him put more glue on the top so he can add cotton balls on each toppings.  My son enjoyed this “cotton” thing very much, he covered the toppings all by himself.



3.  Then last but not the least, the birthday candles. While he was applying glue on the papers, I cut out the parts of the candles: candle stick from the cardboard and flame from the orange sticker.  I positioned the candle stick on each cupcake and made him put the flame on top.

Letter Craft:O is for Owl

Got this activity from No Time for Flashcards, my favorite site at the moment.  They got lots of wonder crafts and activities for your young ones!  Just to clear things out, I am not taking credits for this activity.  Again, I sourced this out from No Time for Flashcards.  The only reason why I document it the way they do is for me to be able to re-do this activity again in the future.

1.  Prepare the materials needed:  orange, green and white paper, some stickers (for the eyes), colored pen, scissor and glue. Using the orange paper, cute a triangular shape for the beak and two strips for the legs.  For the eyes, since I don’t have googly eyes,  I used black and blue stickers.  Draw a large letter O on the white paper.

2.  Per usual, I made Mavi color the letter O and cut it out.  I glue the letter O on a sheet of green paper.  I then made him glue one by one the parts of the birds.  First the orange beak, then the eyes and legs.

3.  Here he is admiring his work.  He keeps on saving “ooowwwllll”.

Letter Craft: N is for Numbers

Here’s how my Letter N goes.

1.  Prepare all the materials needed:  colored pens and crayons, a letter N written on a piece of paper (as large as possible), a black colored paper, glue, and numbers written on colored papers. 

2.  Write a capital letter N on one whole sheet of paper. I let Mavi color the letter N using his yellow and green Giotto washable pens.

3.  After the coloring activity, I cute the letter N and made him paste the number strips  on the letter.




4.  Then he still wanted to color the numbers hehehe.

Painting and Coloring

Art was my favorite thing to do when I was a child, but unfortunately, my parents didn’t provide me with enough materials to discover and develop more of my skills.  Before I knew it, I lost interest in art

Now having a kid of my own, I wanted to expose him to the world of arts and crafts as early as possible.  It’s not that I’m molding him to become an artist, it’s just that, early education should start at home not in school, right?

Before I start to babble about senseless stories of my own, I just want to share the coloring materials I use during our art and crafts activities, and at the time, will share some of my wishlist.

Note that even if they are safe for kids, don’t leave your kids unattended when doing the coloring and painting activities.  Adult supervision are always recommended.
