For practical life, I introduced using clamping this week after Mavi failed to use the dropper. I realized that it would be best to introduce 2 practical life activity a week, and prepare a buffer of 1 activity in case he got bored of the first two. With this set-up it’s much easier for me to prepare materials and have enough time to look around the house on what we can make use for our Montessori activities.
First I made him transfer the bears from the box to the ice tray. He did a great job at first, but then the bear was slipper... so oftentimes they would fall out from the clamp. So I replaced it with pompoms. This time it worked, but he didn’t finish the rest of the pompoms for he got tired.
I would like to try other mediums for this transfer activity, such as
- using a tweezer
- using a cooking clamp
- using a chopstick
Then for stuffs to be transferred, I’m eyeing...
- wooden cubes
- sponge pieces
- beads of different sizes
- counters we used in math
- pebbles
- foods: cheerios, rock candies, grapes etc
