Last month, you developed a skin rash all over your body. Lola Merlit and I had to rush you to the hospital for treatment. At first sight, some of the rash looked like fungal infections. Lola Doc gave you some anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal cream to ease the itchiness and the inflammation.
I blame myself for missing out the part of the rashes. You are a very healthy baby. In fact, if I hadn't really looked closer into your body, I wouldn't have discovered those red flaky patches of rash on you back. You never showed any sign that you were sick or that your rash itches. You were such a fighter. During those times that rashes developed, you were very playful, always blabbing and cooing and talking.. always wanted to play. So I never really imagined that you were in pain.
Two weeks after Lola Doc gave us the creams, I had to send you back to the clinic because it seems that your rashes won't go away. Yes, the redness are gone, but there are still patches of it on your baby. Finally, when Lola Doc saw your body and heard my complain, she told me that you are suffering from skin asthma. It was the first time for me to hear about skin asthma. Lola Doc told me that it is inherited. We're just lucky that you didn't acquire lung asthma which is more fatal just like your Ate Yannah.
Little Mavi, both Mom and Dad's genes had asthma. Your late Great Grandma Sanny had asthma and your Dad had allergies when he was young. You might have acquired these bad genes from us and for that we are very sorry. It is something we are made of and we cannot prevent it from passing into you. The only thing Mum and Dad can do is to try our best to make you safe and prevent all the allergens that will trigger your skin asthma.
I feel somewhat betrayed by my own milk which is supposed to protect him from allergies. Please please heal dear Mavi. Mummy is doing everything right now to protect you from food allergens. Eliminating each food every week just to identify which you are allergic to.
Currently, Lola Doc gave me a new cream, steroidal and it's a much more stronger treatment. Your rash is slowly fading and hopefully before we celebrate Christmas it'll all be gone. You have such a very strong body. You have these rash yet you didn't had any fever or you never fussed. I want you to know that despite this illness, you are still a happy baby and for that I am so proud of you. I hope that someday, when you grow a little older you will carry-on this unique trait of yours, of being a fighter. Be strong baby, for Mum and Dad.
We love you, no matter what. And Mama will always be here, taking good care of you and will do everything to ease your discomforts. Each time you get sick, I pray for your well being, even in exchange for mine.
Get well soon Mavi.
Love,
Mum
