On break

Sorry if I had been away for awhile.  I need to tend to some personal stuff so I've been delaying my posts.  Also, I was not able to give Mavi lessons for Week 9 because of some work to do.  Anyway, I still have to share our homeschool for Week 7 and Week 8, I still have to find time to write the post though.  It's a good thing I take photos during our sessions, it's easier to write when you have pictures rather than remembering what happened on a certain week.

Week 7 and Week 8 post will be coming up next!

Toddler Beginnings Week 6

My notes on Mavi's homeschooling for Week 6
Date:  April 12 - 16, 2010

Theme: Rainbow| Vocabulary: Prism | Color: Red | Letter: F  | Number: 6 | Nursery Rhyme: The Little Nut Tree
Finally, I was able to give Mavi the RAINBOW theme. You see, rainbow is a common natural occurrence that appears mostly in children's books and songs. So to give the RAINBOW justice, it needs a grand introduction.

Toddler Beginnings Week 5

My notes on Mavi's homeschooling for Week 5
Date:  April 5 - 9, 2010

Theme: Eyes | Vocabulary: Pupil | Shape: Triangle | Letter: E  | Number: 5  | Nursery Rhyme: Bobby Shaftoe's Gone to Sea
Finally, I discovered another bookstore that has English books. While walking around Knez Mihailova, I discovered  PLATO. They have a few books which I plan to buy for Maverick in case we already have a budget.  English books are so so so expensive here!! A simple children's book would cost around 10Euro, and to think that it's about 6-8 pages only!  It makes me want to go back in the Philippines where you can buy a book for less than 1Euro... Booksale has a lot more in-store for Mavi!

Anyway, I was also happy that this week, I finally got to introduce watercolors for our hand painting activity! Plus, I found a nice kitchen set at Pertini Toys which I will also be using for our fine motor skills activites.

To read about the things Mavi learned for this week, read on for the details below.  Warning, long post ahead!!

The materials I used for this week's activities were playdoughs, colored pens , printouts and lacing toys.  I bought the Play-Doh which is safe for children as well as colored pens that are washable and doesn't have a strong/toxic smell.
