Toddler Beginnings Week 8

My notes on Mavi's homeschooling for Week8
Date:  May 3 - May 9, 2010
Source:  Bright Beaming Resources

This is a super delayed post because a lot of things has come up lately and I have no time to write .  It's a good thing I keep the pictures, it was easy for me to recall our activities for this week.

Theme: Sun | Color: Yello | Letter: H  | Number: 8 | Nursery Rhyme: Hickory Dickory Dock
Here's what Maverick learned for Week 8.

MONDAY
Theme: Sun

The theme for the week was SUN.  Early on, I drew different pictures of sun on the drawing book.  I taught him how to color the sun yellow.

He doesn't want me to guide his hands, so I allowed him to color the sun by himself.  After a few minutes, I checked on him, and saw that he has put all his toys on the top of the table.

These days, he's starting to arrange or line-up all his toys.

TUESDAY
Shape: Yellow
Nothing much with the color activity since we already did the "coloring" last Monday.  So for this activity, I gave him the yellow Playdoh and make him play with it.

Then I hand him his shaping blocks so he can form shapes out of the clay.

Aside from the yellow color, Mavi can also identify green, red and blue color.  I kept using the Playdoh for our color activities because he loves them.  I would form the clay into small balls and would ask him to identify the color.

WEDNESDAY
Letter: H

Maverick knows the letter H already, so instead of coloring the letter H, I made him trace the big and small H using the yellow pen.  He loves tracing the letter.  I use his hand to trace the letter of course... and after that, he tried to do it by himself.

THURSDAY
Number: 8, Eight

For the number 8, we did the same activity as before, putting 8 stickers on the number 8.  After which we counted each stickers.

I was able to buy a counting book.  Nothing fancy, and it wasn't even hard bound, but I also use it from time to time as a tool for Mavi to count.  The only problem with the book is that, the number is only up to 12.

FRIDAY
Nursery Rhyme: Hickory Dickory Dock
I just recited this poem to him.

I used the letter G do a dot picture for Maverick to water paint.  As of now, he enjoys this activity so much.  He started learning water painting a few weeks ago, and now he can do it by himself with my supervision of course.

He gets curious everytime the color sticks on his hands... so before he could paint it on the paper, he would spend enough time, staring at his hands with color paints on it.

Park
This week, we took him to Sava Church where there's a huge park in front of the church.   I brought with me again his bubbles.
  • He's not scared of the hill, he kept on climbing up and running down the hill.  He loves it!
  • He got curious with the steps on the park.
  • His favorite past time is chasing the ball and the bubbles.
Chasing the ball and running down the hill
